Its been ages since I've written.
Well. not ages.
But pretty damn close. Sorry guys....my life has been a whirlwind but surprisingly enough, when it comes to the end of my semesters, things start to loosen up a little as opposed to get crazier like most people. I can't say I can relax really what with the 20 billion shows I have coming up but, tis the life I chose. No complaints.

So...anywho. The new Animal Collective Fall Be Kind EP leaked. Thank goodness.
I have it.
I love it.
I teared up it was so beautiful.

I wish I could listen to a new Animal Collective song everyday.
It seems they are letting their "old school" colors shine in all of the new recordings and I couldn't be happier. Sung Tongs was their best album in my opinion and well they certainly prove that they haven't lost it entirely since Deakin left. Not saying they suck without him....just saying I like their older stuff more.

I also really like the Grateful Dead samples in the song "What Would I Want? Sky?". Just....beautiful.

I saw Dan Deacon a week ago at an Airplane Pool in Medford, NJ. It was incredible and definitely one of the better shows I've been to. To be entirely honest...(and of course it is absolutely necessary that I'm honest wit cha!).....Dan Deacon is fun and cool and great to dance to, but not heaven sent musical talent. I don't like him for the quality of his music. But going to this show made me see why I do like him. I suggest everyone take a chance, if you get one, to go see him play. Its good fun.

The BEST documentary I've ever seen. I watch a lot of documentaries too. I'm way too into watching the History Channel/National Geographic/Biography Channel/Discovery/Smithsonian Channel. Yeah that's an awful lot of learning channels (thanks to Fios! wish we could get that in Philly :/)

I actually hesitate often before watching something that I know is ultimately going to make me feel like crap. I had an idea of everything this documentary was going to be...something that I knew I believed in and understood very well, but left me with a lot of angst and anger in the end.

Halfway through, I felt my repeated doom coming, but by the end they kind of lift your spirits with this one. They make you feel as though we (as in humans) have done a lot to save the earth and well just need to do more. haha. But they don't leave you feeling entirely responsible.

Yeah, the earth is overpopulated...but we can evolve...we just can't rely on nature because we have been slowly killing all that is around us. Therefore, get your asses up and do something! AKA....our government especially needs to take action because it seems all other governments are doing it for us (places that don't even get to use the resources they have). This film did a great job at portraying the facts in the clearest way possible (with some of the most beautiful music backing it all up).

It shouldn't make much of a difference in your thoughts for the bill Obama is signing.
Well I guess I have no right to actually say what you should or should not think.

But really? Get off your high horses people. This is a good thing. Its illegal to sell to kids under 18 so why market it like that's the demographic you are going after. They don't really do that with alcohol (well for the most part).
Yes. I'm not a smoker and I guess maybe I just have a different perspective and all...though I do understand smokers. I just don't understand why smokers suddenly want to hate Obama for being a responsible president for signing this bill. He isn't a lone wolf...it made it through the House and the Senate in order for him to even see it. I know people who are just going to stop supporting him now because of this.

He isn't making cigarettes illegal. He's just making things right based off of his own experience with it all. He's a smoker. He started when he was a kid. I just don't think that its cool that tobacco companies say its OK for 12 year olds to be enticed. In my opinion...."it just ain't right".

It isn't a matter of smoking being right or wrong with this bill. Its a matter of marketing to people that aren't old enough to buy in the first place.

Well..I haven't posted in quite a while and I apologize for not doing so. School has been really crazy with all the performances and rehearsals for performances and papers and tests. Excuses, excuses, excuses.....blah, blah, blah.

81st Academy Awards

The winners were all pretty predictable really so there's not much to talk about in that category.
All I really wanna say is how wrong the critics are about Hugh Jackman and his hosting capabilities!!! He was so AWESOME. Probably the most entertaining and memorable host I've ever seen on the Oscars. Opening number:

My favorite part of that number is The Reader part. He cracks me up. I had no clue he could dance so well!

Oh and....Ben Stiller is the man. He was another man bashed by the critics for his little joke about Joaquin Phoenix. I thought it was funny, but maybe I'm just easily amused. *shrugs* Oh well.

Oh and one more thing....it's very interesting how white seemed to be such a popular color for all the gowns this year. It looks like half of what everyone was wearing came straight out of a wedding magazine. They all looked gorgeous though.

-bike rides
-random outdoor adventures throughout the city with my roommates
-birthday picnics/outdoor tea parties
-flowers blooming (oh so cheesy of me to mention I know)
-the idea that Summer is closer than we think :D
-Animal Collective concert May 12th!!!!!!
-dance performances I've been anxious to do
-mornings walking to class that don't involve taking an extra 5 minutes bundling up as if I'm preparing for an ice age!
-oh...and Spring Break of course. :)

Anybody who doesn't sympathize for Michael Phelps and the situation he is in is truly an asshole. I hate to be so blunt about it but its true. I mean c'mon people! We just spent all this time praising the guy and loving him and tell him how amazing he is and he does one slip up and suddenly we turn on him. Well, I guess technically this isn't the first slip up, but still. Nobody's perfect. At the end of the day, my question is, what jerk seriously took a picture of him hittin a bong at this party anyway and what made them want to sell it to tabloids? I think the only thing this really does is make everyone else involved look completely insensitive and douchebaggggy.

I was having a discussion with a couple friends last night about unusual pets (squirrels, penguins, carrots, etc.) and it reminded me of something that happened over Winter Break. I had to go to the pet store with my mother to get food for the dog and we walked by a duck that was being sold as a pet for only 30 bucks. What a deal! hahah First thing that went through my mind was "Who would seriously consider bringing a duck home?" I mean seriously. Seriously, seriously. But...I figured it could be a good substitution for a penguin...somehow. I always thought it would be pretty sweet to have a pet penguin. Anyway, I was pretty darn close to buying it and bringing it up to Philly for my roommates and I. The duck was adorable. It was growing on me fast. Naturally, my mom talked me out of it. Shes so wise.
However, it isn't all that crazy to have a pet duck. Just check out this guy (props to Willie for introducing this video to me):

As a preface to this random collection of thoughts, ideas, reviews, critiques, cool things, and whatever else may show up in this blog, I thought maybe I should introduce you to the one person who inspired me to name it....what it is in fact named.

Mat Marshall. He Backs Jack. Jack Markell. Delaware's new and wonderful governor. Anyway. During some gathering of friends at some place for some reason, he once said aloud, "I just get a collective case of the heebie jeebies. It accumulates over the months." It is a quotable quote...that I like to quote often and was naturally (and of course randomly as this blog apparently promises within its first line) the one thing I wanted to share with people from the very start. At any rate, Mat is a good friend of mine from high school who has a couple blogs of his own and with those blogs has many many followers all across the wonderful state of Delaware and beyond.
